Our Story
Maritime Children’s Foundation secured registered charity status in September 2024 and our overarching aim is to ensure that every child within Maritime Academy Trust can have the support they need to thrive and realise their full potential – irrespective of their background.
The Foundation is focused on delivering and supporting innovative programmes across our Maritime schools and our communities, focusing on those children who most need it. All our activities are developed via drawing on sector best practice and our own deep knowledge and understanding of our communities.
At present, we are focussing our efforts on three strands of work.
Providing direct support for our families with babies and toddlers, as well as facilitating parent networks in the communities we work in. This is Maritime Strong Foundations.
Continuing support for parents via our school Community Hubs run by our Community Ambassadors who are dedicated to bringing our schools, parents and communities together in order to collectively support our children in the best possible way. This is Maritime In The Community.
Our third programme is our Maritime Skills Academy. Each Saturday our Academies open their doors to children to enjoy drama, sport, art, robotics and more. This is free to attend and provides opportunities for over 50 children at each Skills Academy, focusing on those families who otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford such an experience. We currently run our Skills Academy at both Greenacres Primary School and Featherby Junior School.
