Our Promise: An Excellent Start for Every Child
Our BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goal) is our promise to you: to positively disrupt education and ensure every child gets a great start in life. This is our 10-year plan to make sure that no matter their background, every single child leaves our schools prepared for their future.
We’re proud that our students are currently achieving above the national average of 62%, but we will not stop there. Simply being "above average" isn't our goal. Our goal is to prepare every child for the next chapter of their education and beyond.
Is This Just a Vision? The Answer Is "Absolutely Not."
We realised that to truly change outcomes for children, we had to stop doing the same things and expecting different results. Our teachers and leaders came together and identified five core pillars to guide our work.
- Education Beyond 9 to 3: Learning doesn't stop when the school day ends. Just as with sports or music, more practice and opportunity lead to mastery. We are creating more chances for children to learn and grow, whether through an extended school day, weekend visits to our Maritime Skills Academy, or extra clubs and homework.
- Community is Key: When we work closely with our community, our children thrive. Our Community Ambassadors build strong relationships with families, creating parent events, connecting them with support services, and bringing in external providers. We even support families before their child starts school through our "0-6 offer" at Bligh.
- Powerful Partnerships: We're always looking to learn and grow, which is why we partner with specialist charities, other schools, and trusts. This is also why we’ve launched the Maritime Children’s Foundation, which raises funds to support our community programs, home visits, and our 0-6 offer.
- Investing in Our People: Our children deserve the best. We invest heavily in our staff's professional development through apprenticeships, Master's programs, bespoke training, and a digital platform that allows for personalized learning. We empower our educators to be their best so they can give their best to our children.
- A Commitment to Excellence: Our teachers and leaders work together, sharing knowledge and supporting one another to ensure every one of our schools is a place of excellence for our children.
Our BHAG is not just a dream, it’s the blueprint for our work. Every day, we take another step forward to ensure that every child, regardless of their background, leaves our schools ready to succeed. This is our commitment, and our legacy.
