Barnsole Primary Trust merges with Maritime Academy Trust

Earlier this year Barnsole Primary Trust's Board voted in principle for Barnsole Primary Trust (BPT) to join Maritime Academy Trust, attracted by our alignment of values and vision for our staff and pupils. Nick Osborne became interim CEO for Barnsole Primary Trust from the spring of 2020.

Our Meday and Kent Maritime schools are geographically very close to the four BPT schools, Bligh Infants, Bligh Juniors, Barnsole Primary and Danecourt Special School, all situated in Medway. This gives us the opportunity to create a natural collaboration hub in Medway and Kent.

Following approval by the Department for Education , due diligence by each Trust, consultations with BPT staff and their communities, both Boards formally approved the merger in July. The legal processes have now been completed and we are therefore delighted to be formally merging the two Trusts on 1st September 2020. The merged Trust will have 13 schools across Greenwich, Bexley, Kent and Medway and with be known as Maritime Academy Trust.

This merger provides us all with a great opportunity to deepen collaboration between our schools and share central and school level expertise in the best possible way. BPT staff bring a wealth of knowledge and skill that will serve to strengthen Maritime and allow us to continue to enhance the experience every child has in Maritime. For our staff we firmly believe that this merger will allow greater cross school collaboration and further opportunities for development.
